Sunday School Seasons

Kids Matter Here!

Kids Matter at Trinity Episcopal Church and we have a plethora of programs and activities to provide a spiritual education for our youth. The Sunday School Coordinator, Joyce Gervasio, and Assistant Sunday School Coordinator oversee the Young People's Christian Formation and Education program. Adult and Young Adult parish members volunteer their time to teach. If you would like more information or are interested in volunteering, please contact them

Youth Sunday Sermon Children's Liturgy: Children's Liturgy is also known as "Youth Church." It is geared toward children 3 years of age and up. Dianne Du leads the children to Children's Liturgy ahead of Rev. Pam at the beginning of the 9:30 service. Their parade marches them to the main room in Graham Hall (the second floor of Aldrich Hall) at 9:30 am. Parents are welcome to join us. Dianne incorporates music and helps the children understand about Church and how we worship God. The children return to their families during the Peace, for the celebration of the Eucharist. Children will guide the red wagon (filled with donations to the food closet to be blessed) to the altar following the Offeratory. Youth Sunday is usually the first Sunday of each month. Children can participate as greeters and ushers, readers of lessons and the Prayers of the People, as acolytes (extinguishing the Christ Candle on the altar with supervision), and as Offertory Presenters. We introduce children to both the structure of liturgical worship and the experience of worship. The sections of the service are identified to show their meaning, for example, "We greet one another" ("the Lord be with you"); "We talk to God" (Opening Song); "We remember God's Word" (The Lesson).

Sunday School: Sunday School starts after the 9:30 am service on Sundays.  Each classroom offers curriculum that is age specific. The lessons are Bible centered. A story from the Bible is shared and then discussed in a way to make the story tangible to their lives right now. How can we live our lives in a way that will make Jesus proud? Often there is a snack and a craft or activity.  Classes conclude at 11:45 am.

J2A Program: The Journey To Adulthood Program serves as the curriculum for our 7th-12th grade classes, and as the basis for our Rite 13 (6th-8th graders) and J2A (9th-12th graders) Youth Groups. A minimum of two years' participation in this program is required for Confirmation, which usually takes place at the end of 10th grade. At the end of the school year we gather for a celebration with each student receiving a Certificate of Participation!  For more information about these program, please go to our J2A page.

Suitcases collected for foster childrenYouth Groups: In addition to offering great youth programs, Trinity offers many opportunities for Parish teens and their friends to earn community service hours to meet school requirements. Some of the opportunities that fit the "Community Volunteer Requirements" include jointly organizing and staffing a pancake supper fund raiser, manning a candy table at Trinity's Annual Christmas Bazaar, assisting Sunday School Teachers, helping direct cars parking during the Scituate Art Festival, assisting in our Food Closet and Thrift Shop.  On top of offering volunteer opportunities, our Youth can get together with other area teens socially for game nights, Christmas caroling, movies, etc.
